There's hope for Richmond radio

How can Soft be considered a selling point for music? Believing 98.1 is the reigning king of workplace music and they are sitting on a pot of money, WMXB and Cox Radio have decided to take them on, so they've changed the format of the long-standing king of 'There must be something better on, just try...' B 103. With an apparent belief that the only people with jobs are those over 30 and anyone over 30 loves Celine Dion, Marc Anthony, and any other whiney singer/song written in the last twenty years, they've left Richmond with a huge gapping hole in its music radio choices. Richmond radio was never something to be proud of, but with the format change of WMXB (formerly B 103.7, now Mix 103-7) we are left with only the options of the leader in light contemporary 98.1, a handful of mostly Rap stations, two major angry-white-men stations, redneck oldies and a scattering of country stations. Those who are not fortunate enough to live near U of R have nowhere to turn the dial to hear new music that isn't rap, country, or someone who's venting juvenile frustrations to crunching guitars.
