Why I'll Never Marry

I don't know. I could simply put that, but since I had a fairly popular page here, that would be wrong. My old page was a list of likes and dislikes and some said it read like a personal ad, even though it wasn't written as one. Some people thought I was railing against marriage. I wasn't. If anything, I'm too idealistic. I believe in 'till death do us part'. That is the sole reason I've never said, 'Yes'.
If you were looking for the old page, go here.

I wanted to put something different up. This is as different as you can get. It's a list of crushes. I'm sure they say a lot about me, but I'm too dense to know what they say. These are merely crushes. These aren't people I would like to meet. Some, are no longer with us. They are almost all famous, because if I told you about my crush on the guy at the gas station who looks like he was pulled straight from the 50's and has a long stride I love to watch, you'd have no idea who he was, and I'm not sneaking up there and taking a picture of him. That would be borderline stalking. With a crush - at least for me - you admire, not persue.

Gene Kelly
These aren't in any particular order, but this is my #1 crush.

Why?
Handsomest man ever. Athletic. That smile. That body.

Sheen
Jimmy Neutron's sidekick.

Why?
Sheen says the funniest things, and no one really pays attention! He has a very twisted way of looking at things and he's enthusiastic.

Status: Active!
Barry Manilow
Probably my most embarrassing, but I was a kid.

Why?
Strong features, twinkling eyes. He was very handsome before he had work done. Now, like a lot of older men, he looks too feminine.

Status: Faded
Leonard Cohen's song The Future
Yes, this is a crush on a song. Deal.

Why?
I had been trying to explain to friends some thoughts I had rolling around in my head, but I couldn't find the right words. One night, I was watching a talk show and Leonard Cohen came out and sang my thoughts. I was dumbstruck.

Adam Ant
This is an old crush. Like most of these, it's more a crush on a personae than a person.

Why?
Handsome, mischevious scoundrel with a heart of gold.

Status: Lingering...
Peter Petrelli
This is not a crush on the guy who plays Peter, though I do love the name Milo. For the second season, I have my eyes on Adam.

Why?
He's a comic hero come to life! He had (first season) that swoosh of hair that would cover one eye, and the comic hero stance. Thrilling!

Status: Faded
Jack Skellington

Why?
Tall, thin, intelligent, good-hearted - even when he's doing wrong, he thinks it's for the right reason. Well-read - you saw his study. Ambitious. Wicked. Charming.

Status: Active!
Bruce Willis
This is another personae one. I would guess any crush on an actor is personae, whether you realize it or not.

Why?
Man's man. Rugged, handsome, looks good bald even! Not afraid to be a Republican in the ocean of Hollywood Democrats.

Status: Lingering...
Rocks
Yes, the things you find on the ground.

Why?
Rocks are amazing if you really look at them. Tiny little features, each distinct.

Haughty Melodic by Mike Doughty
This isn't a song-crush. This is the whole album. I can't say I have a crush on Doughty (even though he's handsome), because I only know this album.

Why?
Doughty's voice, lyrics, music...

Status: Active!
Johnny Carson
I've always been a night person. Luckily, I grew up in a tolerant home and was allowed, even as a tiny child, to stay up and watch Carson, though my mother couldn't stand him.

Why?
Smart, witty, silly, and a receding hairline to boot.

Status: Faded
Gir from Invader Zim
I know someone who can pick which character in any animation show I will like. I think it's an amazing talent.

Why?
Adorable, confused, irrepressible.

Status: Active!
Kevin Spacey
That picture could almost change the status. Hot!

Why?
Maybe, because he does a wicked Carson immitation? He's certainly handsome. Has a receding hairline and beautiful brown eyes. But, sadly...

Status: Faded
Michio Kaku
A physicist!

Why?
Intelligent, witty, and just so darned cute!

Status: Lingering...
Craig Kilborn
I only really know his personae from his late night show.

Why?
Tall, funny, sarcastic.

Status: Lingering...
Spock
I've had not one, but two boyfriends say I remind them of Spock. Both were surprised by my delight. Neither meant it as a compliment. Huh?

Why?
Calm, logical - he has emotions, but he doesn't show them when they aren't a necessity.

Status: Lingering...
Rusty Gears
Sometimes, I find one laying on the ground. Sometimes, friends who know I love them, give them to me.

Why?
Gears are amazing on their own. They're one of the oldest mechanical parts. Rust is oxygen eating metal. That thrills me.

Status: Active!
Albert Einstein
I wish I hadn't found out he was a bit of a player.

Why?
Super-smart, yet funny and imaginative. What a combination! No wonder the ladies loved him.

Status: Lingering...
Kyle Chandler
No, I don't watch his new show.

Why?
He looks like Gene Kelly. That's probably all there is to it.

Status: Faded
Bill Murray
For years, this was a secret crush. I don't know why.

Why?
Sly, charming, so cute!

Status: Active!
Jack Benny
Yeah, way before my time, but our local PBS aired his old shows on Sundays and I watched every one.

Why?
His ability to laugh at himself. The funny faces he makes. Doesn't hurt that he has a receding hairline. I've loved those since I was a kid.

Status: Lingering...
Jeff Goldblum
Raines was an amazing show. Can't believe they cancelled it.

Why?
Tall, witty, quirky - maybe too quirky? One appearance on Conan O'Brien almost scared the crush right out of me. Seriously weird guy.

Status: Lingering...
DOS
The operating system.

Why?
Windows was built on DOS. DOS is the reliable support for older operating systems. It's text-based. It's complex, yet simple.

Status: Active!
Edward Cullen
Another embarrassing one. This is what my Cullen looks like. I know, he's not what yours looks like. I blame reading the book in front of the TV.

Why?
The author made him the perfect man. Seriously. Strong, respectful, courageous, caring - pure fiction.
