                        Why Not Rant?

                   i see
                       i see something
                          different,
                      it really is no different
                       from what you see,
                          but,
                      for one, bright moment
                      i see it
                          again,
                            differently,
in a new, and exciting way -

                      Oh, wait
                       Oh, man
                      Just for this minute,
                           can you see it?
                      Oh, wow

                      i have to tell someone,
                            anyone
                                now
                                 quickly
                           Loudly,

                       before i forget

ENOUGH TO MAKE YOUR HEAD SPIN

Excuse me while I rage and rant,
And try to tell you of my slant,
And of the circles, if you'll grant
The time it takes to draw them out
Or name them as they run about
Sometimes they whisper, times they shout
Of homes like hives,
With small divides,
And greener than yours, so keep your side
And mine is better, faster, grander -
Disagreement gets the dander,
Think alike, or face a slander

Times in circles, fashion too,
Both to place restraints on you
And me, though disregard a few
And hope no one will notice, care -
Going where?
Not too far, lest they stop and stare
And wonder why you haven't heard,
Yellow's out, it's quite absurd,
Why, you look like that famous bird,
Who's taught us what is wrong and right,
And there's nothing we should fear at night
(He scares me, even in the light)

I don't know why the T.V. lies
They know the truth and then disguise
'It's what they want' - their alibis
And give your money to the needy,
And keep it coming, they're getting greedy,
Then we're all switching sides so speedy
That sometimes, when I stop for air,
I look around and wonder where
I am - what side? or should I care?
And circles just keep spinning 'round,
So now, before I lose my ground,
I'll stop, and bring my hemlines down

DIES

The past blows through

With it's cold winds

Chilling to the bone

Stand near the sun

Stand in the sun

Let the past blow by

And feel the warmth

Within the breeze

As sun fills

And breeze dies

DONE WITH MIRRORS

i do not miss them
but glass with silver paint
upon them yet
i miss the world of
other, other, other
other seemingly beyond
the two opposing planes
and now we judge
not only by what we see
on another's face
as our now
and possibly true
reflection
but look about us
to see who is near
and what we
think of them
and if they are by us
because of what
they see
or by us because
of how we choose
to see them

Destination

The whistle doesn't wake them
But the rumble wakes the soul
Like a strong hidden memory
Days of steam and coal
A light flashing through the trees
The feel of force met earth
Thick night air encompassing
The solid, speeding girth

All the places we haven't been
The ones we hope to go
The past that lies behind the mass
Destination - we don't know
But someone, somewhere laid the tracks
And follow as it may
It's with us just a few short miles
And then it's on its way

Overhearing

"Someone said today
People just don't think
It wasn't that lead singer, no
Perhaps it was my shrink?"

"I went to see a movie
It opened just today
No, I've never read the book
It's easier this way"

"I have their latest album
I really love that track
It's music like when I was young
I'm glad they brought it back"

"That's my favorite TV show
The star's a lot like me
Not the way that I am now
The way I want to be"

"My friend goes to the galleries
Said making friends was tough
But now she knows the owners so
They always hang her stuff"

"Have you read that novel?
It's still at number one
It's romance, or a mystery,
Well, both of them are fun"

"I admire the director
His work is fresh and smart
If you don't like his point-of-view
Then you don't have a heart"

"Someone said today
All our arts are rote,
There must be something better on
Toss me the remote"

                            TO DO LIST :

We've no major war, so what shall we do?

We could tear down a building, and put up a new?

But then, after then, what shall we do?

Let's go over our science and see if it's true

Let's condemn what we don't like- promote what we do!

Call ourselves winners (we don't like to lose)

Let's go work in our gardens, and polish our cars,

Listen to music,

Go out to bars,

Save all the dolphins!

Save all the trees!

Use television to teach 'birds and bees'!

Point to who's wrong,

Declare ourselves right!

Use ethnic slurs!

Perhaps, start a fight?

If we escalate it, it could be a war!

Why would it matter, what we're fighting for? We can't force tornadoes, earthquakes, or floods....

We don't have the water, to make enough mud....

To show how resourceful our nature, and true,

We've got to find something, We've nothing to do.
